Difficulties using Wordpress
This comment was split from the discussion: Suggestion for tenfourfox
I have been having difficulty using wordpress, the pages wouldn't draw correctly and the tools for my blog weren't available. I tried Tenfourfox, Firefox, Safari and just about anything I could download. Then I tried Omniweb and it worked, It drew the pages correctly and all the tools for my blog worked. But Geez I love Tenfourfox, it's made for my G4. Maybe you all could look to see why there is such a difference between Tenfourfox and Omni and work those things into your browser? Or is it the plug-ins? I'll bet it is. Thanks for all you do, Gilbert

Hello Gilbert, can you be a bit more specific? Screenshots showing rendering errors would be most helpful. What does it look like in TFF? What does it look like in OmniWeb? Also a web address of a page/blog that doesn't render correctly so we can check it out would be great.
If a plugin is needed, you'll get a grey "Plugin warning" box (see screenshot attached) or "Install Flash Player" or the like. Generally, with very few exceptions, we're Firefox as far as rendering is concerned, so it might also be a Mozilla bug.

Hi Chris...nope, no plug in image thingy, I've seen those from time to
time...I'll get you some screen shots later today...was remembering that
some of the time Safari would kinda work and kinda not, a tool may show
up but not function right, like a text resize or something, it would be
there on the screen but not usable...the rndering is odd, I'd edit
something, click update, go to the updated view and there wouldn't be
anything there, no image or text...I'll get you some
screen-shots...Thanks, it means a lot, Gilbert

Hi Chris...well now I don't know what to think...last night everything
was there using Omni but not TFF...now neither one shows all the
tools...wordpress is tied very closely with Netcast and Netcast embeds a
lot of tracking things, some time ago Netcast tried to come into my
machine and was blocked by Henwen and NetBarrier, since then wordpress
has acted oddly...it maybe that I just ticked someone off by blocking
them and this is their payback, not that I'm paranoid or anything but
the web is what it is...Thanks for looking at this issue but I think
it's just a me against them kinda thingy...Gilbert

Hm, there's a lot wrong in the TFF rendering. Just for the heck of it you could try it with a fresh user profile (quit TFF, temporarily move the Firefox folder in ~/Library/Application Support to the desktop, the start TFF).

:-) Hi Chris...seems things are different now :-)...I'll have to redo my
extensions and then try wordpress again...will let you know, in the mean
time Thanks a Bunch for all that you do...getting a new profile is like
doing a complete reset? is this the "trick" for most problems? if so
I'll have to keep it in mind...Gilbert

Gilbert, the major issue in your screenshot is that the web fonts didn't load in TenFourFox for some reason. This can have lots of causes, such as iffy networking or cache problems, and many of these causes are transient. It often "fixes itself" as you noticed. If it doesn't, then a profile reset is the next step, as Chris advised.
If you look at "How to reset your profile" at the bottom right, you'll get a complete stepwise list of directions.

Hey Cameron...I thought what I'd do is get fresh stuff Firefox, the
extensions and things because everything is so different I might of had
corrupted files(?)...most things have changed dramatically, the look and
feel is way different and the extensions page at firefox reads totally
different...wonder if I was high-jacked somehow...this is way kool stuff
now :-))) Peace, Gilbert

Okay, you seem to have two different issues. One was the webfonts which load now. I guess they were blocked by one of your extensions or a changed preference in Content or Privacy. The second issue may really be a bad network on your side or the server side because the tools load sometimes, sometimes partly, sometime not at all.
PS: Maybe your Firefox profile folder is still in the trash can?

Also, look at your addons. Are you sure one of them is not interfering?

I really think it's my DSL connection...I have been under an ARP spoof
overwrite attack since getting my service about 45 days ago, sometimes
it's really bad, plus a lot of port scans (one every 10 seconds)...I
have complained to the powers that be but to no avail...it's my
router/DSL then...it also may be that I'm using too many firewalls and
antiviruse programs just to keep the wolves away...I went through
"about:config" and saw nothing out of the ordinary as far as my settings
or yours so I think TFF is okay, it's just me and the connection I have,
maybe if I stay off-line for awhile they'll move along to somewhere
else...and yes, my trash is empty but I now where I go, the news and
none of it is good :-/// Hey, thanks for all your help with my "issues"
:-))), I'll try wordpress in a week or so and see how it goes and BTW my
blog is gilbertwsatchell.wordpress.com, enjoy, Gilbert

Hey Cameron...part of my problem was a flooded router which I fixed and
another was, and this is embarrassing to say the least, I found a little
button on wordpress that makes the whole thingy work like a champ, gawd
I feel stupid...so yes, the new profile did wonders with the fonts
(thank you) and fixing my router so I was no longer flooded with traffic
and this little button issue :-)...you all get gold stars on your
foreheads for being such sports about the whole thing...balloons and
champagne are in order, cheers, Gilbert

Gilbert, glad to hear it. Yes, network issues can definitely affect this, so it makes sense that your router was to blame. Thanks for the kind words. Chris and I will close this ticket. You don't need to reply unless you have something further on the issue; if you do need to reply, it will automatically be reopened for you. Good luck!
