Relocate Firefox? Set 10FFx for automatic open?<div><p>In order:</p>

<li>
<p>Yes, you just unzip it, and copy the application to wherever you
want it (such as your Applications folder).</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>It will not overwrite Firefox, but it will take over its old
settings and bookmarks. Be careful, because as Firefox 3.6 ages it
will may no longer be fully compatible with TenFourFox, and this
can cause problems for both browsers. If you want a fallback
browser, I would use Camino instead, which is the same engine as
Firefox 3.6. I would not recommend running Firefox again after you
have started using TenFourFox unless you absolutely have to (and
you can safely delete it if you like).</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>(If that is a concern for you, you can backup the Application
Support/Firefox folder, and this will preserve your old Firefox 3.6
data if you decide you want to return to Firefox 3.6.)</p>
<ul>
<li>Yes, you can set TenFourFox to open at login (in fact, I do
this myself). You can hold down the option key for safe mode as it
starts at login, but the problem is this might interfere with other
applications that are starting. I wouldn't recommend making it open
at login until you are pretty sure it won't cause you any
problems.</li>

to strip out Intel stuff from TenFourFox once it is installed.
Conversely, if your Mac has an Intel chip, strip out the PPC stuff.
Saves disk space. There are programs out there that will do this
for you.</p>
<p>Support staff, what is your take on doing this.</p>
<p>Thanks for the recommendation to dump Firefox 3.6.28.</p>
<p>My concern is, will TenFourFox eventually abandon the G3?</p></div>Dontag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/183147732012-08-31T17:46:18Z2012-08-31T17:46:18ZInstallion Qs. Relocate Firefox? Set 10FFx for automatic open?<div><p>As to my earlier post, I was referring to stripping out Intel
stuff from Firefox, not TenFourFox.</p></div>Dontag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/183147732012-09-04T10:11:25Z2012-09-04T10:11:25ZInstallion Qs. Relocate Firefox? Set 10FFx for automatic open?<div><p>Don, one of your posts ended up in our spam sieve, my apologies.
Personally, I don't think it's necessary to strip apps since disk
space nowadays isn't that much of an issue. You wouldn't gain much
space, anyway. Also I'm a bit sceptical about the damage these
automatic programs might do. As for the G3 compatibility, I don't
know of any plans to drop it, but this is Cameron's field.</p></div>Chris (chtrusch)tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/183147732012-09-04T13:52:51Z2012-09-04T13:52:51ZInstallion Qs. Relocate Firefox? Set 10FFx for automatic open?<div><p>I have no plans to drop G3 compatibility in the near term.
However, there may be a higher minimum memory requirement since we
are moving to a new compiler soon, which could affect early G3
computers. This hasn't been well figured out yet, and it might not
be necessary, but it's being evaluated.</p></div>Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/183147732012-09-04T13:55:22Z2012-09-04T13:55:22ZInstallion Qs. Relocate Firefox? Set 10FFx for automatic open?<div><p>Also, I should add that TenFourFox is not a universal
application, so there is no Intel code to strip.</p></div>Cameron Kaiser
