Or so says a notification that appears on my desktop. Since I run currently TenFourFox Parity Release 14 (the latest for a G-5 PowerMac), does that mean I will soon lose my google mail? Or do you guys have a new release coming that fixes this?

My conbcern is, gmail is pushing Chrome which does not run on PowerMacs. And Firefox withdrew support for PowerMacs but brought out TenFourFox for them. So in running TenFourFox's latest for a G-5, I get the above advisory. Confusing.

I have the same problem, see the screenshot.

But there's another problem since the latest update: before my QT-enabler worked in most cases, also for HTML5 but now it's not working at all.

And there's this annoying Facebook banner on top to tell me I need to upgrade which I cannot block.

Thank you so much for your work.

    Best regards, Jörg.

PS: I'm also on a G5, the last watercooled one produced before the switch to Intel.

@everybody: You can ignore these messages as long as TenFourFox still works OK on these websites. If you don't want to see messages about outdated browsers simply go to TenFourFox Preferences > TenFourFox > 'Select user agent string to use: Firefox 52'. (Don't select 'Firefox 60' unless absolutely necessary – some websites such as Instagram will acually stop working as they assume the browser can do things it is not capable of.)

Gmail is now forcing TenFourFox into basic HTML mode. Email is still possible, but most of the other features are kaput.

Karzan, what happens when you go to TenFourFox Preferences > TenFourFox > 'Select user agent string to use: Firefox 52'?

Chris: thank you for this note. I was also hamstrung by the gmail problem on a G5, but your "Firefox 52" agent-string fix worked like a charm. Much appreciated!

Thank you for this thread; hadn't ran my G4s (or early MacBook1.1) in awhile; started updating and found this Gmail issue. This looks to be the fix I needed..!

(The G3 version tenfourfox also works a treat; still can post to ASC discussions with Leopard 10.5.8 or Tiger 10.4.11 in G4, and 10.5.8 with MacBook1.1 first edition.)

There still is an odd issue in rendering icons and graphics; perhaps from an early workaround in PPC G4 version 10.5.8 in the browser. (settings) + Didn't want to do clean reinstall due to lack of time to correctly do so. ~ Thanks again..!

If you're using Chrome: This browser is not supported in this forum.
If you're using TenFourFox: Please see comments 5 and 7 in this thread.

10.5.8 PowerBook g4 ppc--I am using TenFourFox browser- trying to use my Gmail. Comments 5 and 7 are not fixes. The header says the browser is not supported and therefore directed to basic HTML which loses all the tabs. Will there be a future fix for 10.5.8 ppc ability to use Gmail with TenFourFox? Please advise. Thank you!

Can anybody replicate this with TFF using FF52 as the useragent string? I can't, but simply for the reason that I don't use Gmail and have no Google account.

Instructions to correctly use TenFourFox to solely use all functions of Gmail
in browser, will work as suggested; you just haven't looked far enough.

My four PPC Macs (iBook G4, Mac mini G4, iMac G4, etc) in both 10.4.11
and 10.5.8 work very well; but a little slow. My buddy who set up an early
    Intel-Mac (macbook1.1 13-inch 1.83GHz model) with G3 TenFourFox said
that works very good; and faster due to dual channel RAM and faster RPM
HDD. Also only uses less than 50% of hard drive, remainder is for VM.

Look into Tn4Fx Preferences and see the item in the list "TenFourFox" click it
& see the User agents listed; choose the older one listed, even for PPC Mac
that says Intel. That works in both PPC installs and early Intel. Other settings
need applied on initial install to get the correct setup to work, in PPC.

The answer is in attention to detail. Over various later build G4 PPC Mac
& first edition Intel macs (with Leopard 10.5.8 &/or Tiger 10.4.11) do good.

Good luck & happy computing! 

Tiger with Feature Parity Release 14 (SPR 1). Also no more banner on
    Facebook.

Can someone tell me what the best browser is for an iBook G4, OS 10.4.11? I am currently using TenFourFox 7450-4 FPR 12. I realize this might be as good as it gets, but it has a SEND problem which I have to restore each time I open gmail.

    Thanks.

TenFourFox FPR14 has been available for download from links within TenFourFox.
While I've not experimented with gmail much in my older macs, the default is bad
when your older Mac sets HTML-only version as default ~ across all gmail logins.

So update to the last newest available TenFourFox FPR-14. Be sure to get the
one best suited for the processor build of your G3/G4/G5 Mac. (For those who
have early 'First Edition' Intel-based Mac with Leopard 10.5.8 or Tiger 10.4.11,
read of the unsupported method to use G3TenFourFox; settings are important.)

Good luck & happy computing! ;)
