useless because Mac OS X can for the most part take care of
itself.

I've used Onyx in earlier versions of the OS, but the tool is
problematic because it uses it's own dialog to ask for the admin
password (instead of the official dialog the OS provides). To me,
this is a security concern.

In addition to System Preferences, however, I do use Tinker Tool
for hidden preferences, and Tinker Tool System for troubleshooting
& some rare, special operations that other people would use the
terminal for. These tools are powerful, safe and well-maintained
because the guy who makes them is one of the maybe handful of
people who really know everything about Mac OS X. But these tools
don't really make PPC Macs faster.

Chris (chtrusch)
