blocking ads on hotmail and other sites
I have a PowerPC G4 Mac (OS 10.4.11) and use both Safari (an outdated Safari 4, of course) and Tenfourfox 7450-38.10. I use Tenfourfox to open hotmail outlook and recently it has started to get bogged down by graphic-heavy ad banners on the side. Any suggestions on how I could block these ads? Thanks for your time (and for supporting our old but still wonderful Macs!)

You could install Adblock Plus or uBlock Origin. Both of these extensions will take care of your problem.

Thank you, Chris. It's bed time in my neck of the woods, but I will try
your suggestions tomorrow. Thanks for your time.

Hello, Chris. I have downloaded uBlock Origin for Firefox and it works like
a charm on hotmail outlook. However it seems to prevent me from using some
features of another website I use quite often (full screen slideshow on
yourshot.nationalgeographic.com). I tried adding this website to the
whitelist but it still blocks the feature. I am not very adept at playing
with the various toggles, but will try.
Thank you for your help so far anyways.

You can disable uBlock for yourshot.nationalgeographic.com by clicking the big blue Power button when you're at that site, see screenshot. But this also depends on the filter lists you're using and whether you've enabled element hiding (cosmetic filtering).

Oh, Gosh... I'm such an oaf.
Thank you for your help and for you patience with my ineptitude.

No problem. If you do it like this, the correct host name is added to the whitelist automatically.
