Recent problems with Hotmail TenFourFoxBox
A TenFourFoxBox for signing into hotmail which has worked perfectly for a few years has, in the last week or so, just been showing a "Something went wrong" screen. I can get into hotmail on TenFourFox but it is really, really, really slow.
I made a new Box which gives me a sign-in screen but that takes me to a Microsoft account page rather than straight to my hotmail. When I click on the "View Inbox" link on the Microsoft account page it gives me the "Something went wrong" screen.
I'm on a Dual G5 PowerMac. I did the most recent TenFourFox upgrade.
Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks

I don't use Hotmail personally, but if you can get into Hotmail with TenFourFox itself, then this is a good sign (they haven't done anything to make TenFourFox technically incapable). The problem is likely something with the foxbox's configuration. Are you using a custom user agent with TenFourFox? Any other special settings? How did you configure it before?

I'm not sure what you mean by "using a custom user agent with TenFourFox?" Is that something to do with my Preferences settings?
Curiously, today the new box that goes to the Microsoft account page rather than directly to my email is working, but only after I refresh the "Something went wrong.." page a couple of times.

User agent settings are either done under Preferences > TenFourFox, or sometimes there are add-ons that control it.

I've had this problem occasionally as well, though lately it did annoy me more than usual.
The strong reason to use a foxbox with hotmail is it gives the lite/javascript-less client interface. On the other hand, if you log in with Tenfourfox itself, you get the full client that even my ivy bridge MBP chokes on.
If you change the UA to classilla (Nokia N90), you get served the lite client on TFx as well, but encounter the same issue as a foxbox.
I don't know how a foxbox "spoofs" itself in comparison to the browser to get the lite interface out of the box, but today I got tired of this and tried various UAs. Just "Netscape 3" does not seem to give this problem, but does get the lite interface.
That solved the problem for me.

Foxboxes use unique user agent strings to them, not TenFourFox's, though TenFourFox does appear in the string. When you select the option to prevent the website detecting it is in a foxbox, however, it uses a string to emulate an Intel Mac running Firefox.

The original foxbox is working fine this morning, although it went to a Microsoft page that is a step prior to the sign-in page that it was originally set to go to. No "Something went wrong.." messages yet!

The first time I opened the foxbox today I got a slightly different "Something went wrong..." screen, without the "Refresh the page" line. The following came up under "More details". Is this any help?

No, that's something server-side. I'm not sure what to make of it but it doesn't mean anything specifically to me.

No problems all this week. I'm still using the original foxbox.
