Memory issues ?

Hello

after some browsing download etc I get this at some point (see images) and the only fix is to quit TFF and start over.
it happens alot haven't seen this in prior versions and I have 8 gigabytes of RAM so ...

there is text there to select and links work as well - maybe it's a google issue?

   This looks like your fonts have freaked out. How many do you have installed? Is there anything in Console.app or in the Browser Console when that happens?

   not many 102 standard install.

   I'll let you know next time it happens,
   seems to happen after downloading a bunch of vids etc..
   every new window looks like that. even if typed into the main address bar.

   after doing a google search then getting directions and messing about with google street view I was able to get the weirdness.

   maybe you can replicate or maybe it's me :-)

   Please confirm this also occurs on FPR16 (I'm currently out of town on business and can't do testing until later this week). There's nothing in there specifically that would affect this, but there is a correctness fix for the AltiVec text scanner.

   The downloadable font errors aren't coming from the blacklist. Those look like you ran out of memory or some other corruption occurred and ATS could not instantiate the font, and that's why your screen shows no text. Do you see memory errors in Console.app (not just the Browser Console)?

   So far I haven't had any other reports of this.

   I was trying google street view with TFF 16 and at some point it crashed.

   Yes, those messages indicate you ran out of memory (the font problem therefore is a symptom of the same issue). Since TenFourFox is a 32-bit app (and cannot be 64-bit due to its Carbon dependencies) and thus limited to a roughly 2GB addressing range, it's possible you have exhausted the addressing space with the tasks you're doing, though I haven't had any other reports.

   Other than the usual suggestions to eliminate tabs and unnecessary add-ons, one possible idea is to offload some of this work to a foxbox, which can take up its own 2GB address space (you certainly seem to have enough physical RAM to make this feasible). I'd also make sure basic adblock is enabled which will cut down on script overhead.

   yeah it seems to be happening still in v16.

   this time after just a long browsing session.

   and in a vbulletin type of site, some text and nav numbers disappeared.

   funny I've not noticed this in prior versions, seems to be relatively new.

   no worries, like I said quitting TFF is a sure fix.

   I think I have loaded some more addons and ad block pro maybe it's one of the addons maybe Ill test if turning them all off makes a difference.

   ad block pro has been turned off in favor of ublock addon.
   seems to do a better job for the most part.
   so far not seeing this memory issue anymore.
