TenFourFox supports up to TLSv1.2, so 1.1 is no problem.

Mozilla removed the checkbox for JavaScript from the preferences, so it is no longer user-exposed. I don't have any plans to add that back. However, you do have two options: NoScript (using an earlier version compatible with Firefox 45, on which TenFourFox FPR is based), or going into
about:config
and manually changing
javascript.enabled
to
true
or
false
as appropriate. I'd go with the first option first and see how far you get. The old versions are here, you want version 5.1.8.4: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/versions/

Also, a note on the bookmarks: yes, this is documented; the bookmarks format changed. It's all over the release notes, which is why we recommend folks read them. The release notes are linked from the main TenFourFox website.

Yes, you can simply replace the entire folder, but never do this while TenFourFox is running.

You can remove these "
corrupt
" files, but I'd wonder why they are occurring. Are you switching back and forth between TenFourFox FPR7 and an earlier version of Firefox or TenFourFox? If you do that, you run the risk of data corruption, and that may be what is occurring.

Also there is a similar add-on for images (good for dial-up).

Thank you so much for your thorough and most helpful reply!

I'm following your instructions, and so far, I'm back in business.

The Bookmarks were imported fully, including their individual icons
(which were all lost).

Yes, I'd been occasionally closing TFF FPR7 and using TFF v10 - once
every few days, when I absolutely needed JavaScript.

Perhaps that contributed to the problem.

I'll refrain from doing that!

Cordially,

Many thanks for your much appreciated reply!

I downloaded QuickJS 1.3.1, and allowed it to be installed.

Restarted.

TFF - Tools - Add-ons: QuickJS listed (see screenshot below), but its
icon is nowhere to be seen.

(Clicking "More" shows its location is supposed to be at left of menu
bar.)

Then, I went to about:config, and toggled javascript.enabled to
True ... Still no QuickJS icon.

Then togged to False ... Still no QuickJS icon.

Finder, all files with name "QuickJS": 0 results.

Yet, QuickJS is listed in TFF - Tools - Add-ons, with choice to
Disable or Remove.

What did I do wrong?

Toggling javascript.enabled in about:config absolutely works. I was
able to complete a purchase on a bloated website known to require TLS
1.1 and JavaScript, with no problem.

If I should have posted the above on your website, my apologies.

Thanks again for your kind assistance.

I followed your instructions, moved the icon to the toolbar, and it's
working fine.
