How much RAM? What CPU speed?</p>
<p>I found TenFourFox to be unusable at first, it was so slow. This is on a MDD G4, dual 1.25 gHz CPUs. I did a re-install of OS X 10.5.8, and now it works fine.</p></div>naddy69tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452018-05-01T00:10:02Z2018-05-01T00:10:03ZVery very slow<div><p>Well here is a picture of system profiler</p></div>How to be a fire alarm enthusiast 101tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452018-05-01T01:17:05Z2018-05-14T03:12:55ZVery very slow<div><p>You need more RAM. Everything is going to be slow with only 256MB. This model eMac will take 1GB max. 2 x 512MB PC133 SDRAM, 168 pin. Less than $15 on eBay.</p>
<p>TenFourFox is currently using 350 MB on my G4, with just this page open. So it would be trying to use that much on yours also.</p>
<p>Its never going to fly on that machine, but it should at least be usable with 1GB.</p></div>naddy69tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452018-05-01T01:18:29Z2018-05-01T01:18:30ZVery very slow<div><p>Ok thanks for the help</p></div>How to be a fire alarm enthusiast 101tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-01T09:54:32Z2019-07-01T09:54:33ZVery very slow<div><p>Hi!, we all know TFF is our last hope using our old macs to access internet.<br>
But in my case is almost unusable.<br>
(iBook G4 7450 1.07 GHz 1.25 GB RAM Tiger 10.4.11 format and clean install) Even searching in Google is slow.<br>
iBook works just fine with other software including other (limitated) browsers, video and even Propellerhead Reason 4.0.1.<br>
I tuned up the system much as possible but, all versions of TTF i tried are the most slow browser i ever used. Even back in the 90s with a Pentium 2 running Windows 98 with a 56k telephone modem.<br>
Why?!</p>
<p>Thank you so much in advance.</p></div>Justotag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-01T10:12:27Z2019-07-01T10:12:28ZVery very slow<div><p>Who are you</p></div>Doctor Who Fantag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-01T11:49:29Z2019-07-01T11:49:30ZVery very slow<div><p>We have a very similar model with marginally faster processor (ibook g4 1.33 GHz 1.5 GB). TFF works like a charm! And with the recent update even YT and other video sites are smooth. We use our our ibook for everything, incl. homebanking, shopping, coding, composing. There is really no need for a newer mac, mostly thanks to TFF.</p>
<p>Thank you dear TFF team, you are the best !</p></div>tktag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-01T15:09:59Z2019-07-01T15:09:59ZVery very slow<div><p>It all depends on your expectation and configuration.</p>
<p>You shouldn't expect to run TFF as fast as a recent version of Firefox on a modern Mac, which has faster RAM, faster I/O, faster disk access, hardware support for video, rendering, scrolling etc.</p>

thanks!</p></div>Justotag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-01T20:14:37Z2019-07-01T20:24:24ZVery very slow<div><p>You can start by turning on TFF's built-in basic adblocker.</p>
<p>If that's not enough we generally recomment uBlock Origin; its non-webextension 'legacy' fork compatible to TFF is still in active development as of June 2019 (latest: 1.16.4.11) here:<br>

<p>It uses standard adblock lists (such as EasyList) with a lightweight, efficient blocking method.</p></div>Chris (chtrusch)tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-02T05:29:22Z2019-07-02T05:29:23ZVery very slow<div><p>I highly recommend using umatrix. It allows you to block unnecessary scripts, media, frames, etc.. It took my browsing experience from unusable, to actually quite enjoyable!</p></div>Stevetag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/451759452019-07-02T06:17:00Z2019-07-02T06:17:02ZVery very slow<div><p>Thanks a lot Chris and Steve<br>
