Can't open web site

I've been using, and very successfully, tenfourfox for some time now. I believe I have the most current version of the software. Yesterday I tried to gain entry into chase.com and was denied. That site wanted me to update to a more current version of firefox. If memory serves, I used to get that message when going to that site but the site had an ignore button that allowed me to bypass the need for a more current version of firefox. That button is gone and now the site won't let me pass with my current version of tenfourfox. I'm completely out of my depth with this issue. I guess I'm asking if there is a way to spoof the chase site into thinking that the tenfourfox browser is the current firefox browser?

Sincerely

Jerry, an all thumbs don't speak computer user

This is a known problem and there are several threads on it with suggestions here:

You can also search for "Chase" in the search box at top right.

Thanks for the response. I have to admit, I find it pleasing that others have the same problem with chase. Normally the Universe conspires to whack me and me alone.

I've read the attachments twice. I'm not sure that I will do anything. I did try getting into the chase site via the alternate path and got the same "update browser" message. So that option is gone. From what I gather, a future release of the TenFourFox will have an in-bedded fix???? If true then I can afford to wait until then. If not then I can try to figure out this Add-on thing. I'm just not sure if I can perform this task without screwing up other site access.

    Thanks again

    Jerry

Yes, the plan is to have a built-in user agent switcher, but I don't have an ETA for this feature. Most likely it will appear around 45.6.0 or later.

The add-ons are your best bet for the time being, or you could set up a foxbox configured as one of those threads describes, which would be separate of your main browser and wouldn't affect it.

I really appreciate your effort in this. Just to have a browser that works on my mechanical computer is beyond words. I hate to throw out stuff that ain't broke and my machine ain't broke, yet. One day but not yet.

So I will wait for the fix whenever it is. I just look at the chase to check my charges. I didn't bank with them. The bank I do use needs your browser too so I'm not willing to do anything that might jeopardize that link.

Just for funnies, what is a foxbox?

    Sincerely

    Jerry

Thanks for the kind word. A foxbox is an installation of TenFourFox designed to run a single website (it can do so in parallel with regular TenFourFox and can run alongside the regular browser, and uses the same engine, but has its own private settings). You can download TenFourFoxBox and see how it works and create your own. I use a foxbox for Chase myself.

I just downloaded 45.6 and tried to get into my Chase website. No joy. Did the mods to permit this get into 45.6?

Jerry, if the solutions mentioned by Cameron in
    https://tenfourfox.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/8260-cant-open-web-site#comment_41087584
(install useragent switcher or change the useragent manually in about:config) don't work for you, or are not viable, you'll still have to wait a bit until TFF's Useragent Switcher is ready for release.

Correct. I don't have an ETA for this feature right now, even though it's planned.

I tried your suggestion but no joy. If memory serves, once I get past the log on page using either my path or your suggested path, I get a blank page with two labeled buttons, one says NO and the other says YES or something to that effect. Selecting either one does nothing. I guess I'm just going to use the phone and wait for the fix the browser.

But thank you for the suggestion.

    Sincerely

    Jerry
