Hello,

I noticed that after upgrading from TenFourFox 38.10 to 45 that new tabs open in blank pages even with browser.newtab.url set in about:config.

I use https://www.google.com/ as my new tab page.

Just as a side note I really love TenFourFox for keeping my old Power Mac G5 Quad alive.

Thanks for you time.

    Thanks for the kind word.

That should have also happened in 38.10, so I'm surprised it's only happening now since the same code is there, but this looks like a side effect of our code to short circuit the newtab tiles (since they require a browser feature which cannot be implemented with the 10.4 SDK currently).

This report is now tracked as issue 331: https://github.com/classilla/tenfourfox/issues/331

While looking into the bug, I realized you were actually being bitten by this:

    http://www.ghacks.net/2015/06/28/mozilla-removes-option-to-change-n...

This occurred in Firefox 41, so that makes sense why 38.10 was not affected.

Unfortunately reverting this change has security implications because none of the code to do checks on malicious sites or other problematic behaviour exists anymore and it would not be trivial to add it back. My suggestion in this case is to use the add-on they mention in the ghacks article. It's a bit buggy but it does work for what you want it to do.

    Sorry! :(

    Hi Cameron,

The new tab add-on should do the trick.

Thanks again for keeping the PPC community alive.

    Thanks,
    Kenny
