lost bookmarks

I just installed the 38.9.0 update (G4 QS running 10.5.8 and 10.4.11) and my bookmarks vanished. I can restore an older version of bookmarks from the OS10.4 partition, but up to now, bookmarks have always carried over in upgrades. I also opened a version of Firefox installed here but not used, that shares the bookmarks but it's gone there too.

Did you read up on the bookmarks issue over here: https://tenfourfox.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/6477-bookmarks

Make sure that you do not switch between older versions of TFF or Firefox as the file formats were changed and may hence get corrupted.

A good way to manage bookmarks between versions of Firefox and TFF or on different computers is to use Mozilla's sync feature: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/sync/

Thanks for the information, very helpful. An update: I went to the TFF installation on the 10.4 partition, backed up its bookmark file and brought it over to the 10.5 partition. When I opened TFF and its bookmark file and selected "restore", there was a list of older bookmark back-ups, with the most recent about a week old. There is some auto back-up going on. What a great program. Thanks again

Ha, I remember thinking almost the same when I discovered those backups .-)
