I thank you for providing support for my g5 that is version 10.4.11
I have been using tenfourfox for a few weeks and for the past few days, I get a message saying to update to this newer version 17.0.6
and I download and it says copy it to the hard drive and I copy it as it shows up as text edit and I try to paste it where I try to paste it:
into the icon MacIntosh HD, I opened the applications folder It won't go there either, I left it on my desktop and tenfourfoxG5.app
I just don't get where this goes.
I keep trying everyday
and nothing happens I keep getting a message to download this - I don't know where to paste it. HELP!

I don't quite understand what you mean "paste" -- there shouldn't be any cutting and pasting involved. When you click on the link to download the file, what happens?

Thank You Cameron for such a speedy reply.

I thought, according to the directions, that a copy/paste was due.

It says: double click to compress the download, then copy to the hard drive.

    To answer your question:

When I click on the link to download the file, it downloads to the download
    folder.

I then double click- as the directions say - to "compress" whatever
and that doesn't seem to do anything. The file download can
open up in a text edit page that has computer script - it is not readable by
me, its computer language. I copy that page as directed and then I try to
paste it -which is how I interpret copying to the hard drive-do a copy/paste.
    I don't know where to copy/paste it.

There seem to be two problems here. When you double click the downloaded file (it should end in .zip), the computer should try to decompress it for you. What is the name of the file you downloaded?

Once it uncompresses successfully, simply dropping it on your Applications folder in your Mac's hard drive is sufficient (do this when TenFourFox is not running). I can make this a little clearer in the directions.

    Hi Cameron,

Your help did work. I managed to get the "app" into the hard drive's application folder!

This is what the name is on the icon I put on my desktop:
    TenFourFoxG5-17.0.06.app.zip
I double clicked on that and the icon went from a zip looking file to the fox with the world icon
    file that says TenFourFoxG5.app
I will now try to drop that into the applications folder.
I did a search for applications folder and a page came up saying system preferences and it will not drop into that folder.
OK, I clicked open the "Macintosh HD" icon on my desktop, and it said to replace the older version with this one, I could have the older one in use. So I closed all the open internet files, and I had this page going on in a textedit page so I didn't lose my explaination. It worked.
So now hopefully I have successfully downloaded the new application.
Thank you so much. I have had this Mac for years and only used it for one program as I did not know how to do this sort of stuff. I used a Dell all that time because I knew how to run those, and it crashed in January and I have to use this one now and face the learning curve.
If it were not for your TenFourFox help I would be still stuck with 500 emails to deal with using the outlook mobile app.
Thanks again! From: Cameron Kaiser (Support staff)

I'm glad to hear you're up and running. If you're ever not sure of the version you're running, you can go to the TenFourFox menu (next to the Apple menu when you're using TenFourFox) and select About TenFourFox. This will display your current version (which should be 17.0.6). If you go to Check For Updates, you can also check right away if it's current, but TenFourFox will check this for you automatically.

I will close this issue since it seems to be resolved. No reply is needed. If it's not, just reply to this message and this trouble ticket will automatically reopen, and I or one of the other support staff group will be notified. Thanks for using TenFourFox!
