block webM auto play
Hi, I would like to block auto play or auto load of webM videos.
I use an (old) Apple PowerBook G4 (7450) with Mac OS 10.5.8 and TenFourFox 17.0.3.
On Firefox I can do that for Flash videos with Flashblock add-on: YouTube or Vimeo videos do not load nor do not play unless I click the extension icon and unblock them. That saves a lot of time (background tabs loading videos pages) and CPU power. I do not watch videos on YouTube of Vimeo, I use youtube-dl to download them and VLC to play them. On TenFourFox I can not do that: YouTube player notices there is no Flash, switches to the HTML5 version, loads video files and starts to play them.
Is there a way for TenFourFox to block HTML5 players video loading or webM videos auto-play?

Hello Pimenta,
I use the StopTube extension for YouTube html5.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/stop-tube/
It's a bit unpolished, but it works.
I don't use Vimeo that much (do they offer html5 at all?), so I can't recommend anything for that, but there may be similar extensions that work for any webm.

Thanks, Chris.
I will try the StopTube extension.
Vimeo does not offer HTML5 webM, only H.264. Vimeo's video pages notice TenFourFox has no Flash Player then display an error message about it: "This video can't be played with your current setup. Please switch to a browser that provides native H.264 support or install Adobe Flash Player."

I hope you tried StopTube before it stopped working (yesterday or the day before) because of a YouTube change. Sorry, there's no working alternative right now. Waiting for an updated version of StopTube…
Edit: StopTube was updated to 0.2.1 today, so the developer seems to be quick. It's working again and also looking better.

I tried StopTue after it stopped working and then forgot about it -- no YouTube on TenFourFox for two weeks, I had to use Safari with ClickToPlugin extension. Just noticed StopTube works again. Thanks for the note!
