first, is 10.4FX the same thing as TenFourFox? I've been reading a lot of tech stuff about 10.4FX.

Next question is can I avoid changing profile in my Firefox 3 browser? by just putting Firefox 3 in the trash can?
it just seems a lot of work to do to run TenFourFox. I don't mind losing bookmarks.

in other words, TenFourFox browser seems perfect for my G4 PPC running Tiger 10.4 and I loaded extra memory a few years back. it has on it Safari 4.1.3 and Firefox, the last build before they quit working for PPC.

I had to start using this old mac because my cat broke the screen on my 8 yr old Imac. she knocked it off the table. so I'm trying to make this mac work again.

I assume TenFourFox 38 will be the download I want, and I figured out I have the 7450 build. was just concerned that the browser will not speed up this baby despite my efforts.

I don't mind dumping Firefox since the prob with using Firefox is they tell me to disable and replace software which I am unable to disable and replace because there is no replacement for this older mac.

I'm doing ok with Safari allowing me to go on Facebook with a simple build of it, and Safari lets me do Youtube, but the spinning beach ball of death, is getting to me.

Tenfourfox will let me add Adblock. that's why I want it. advice to dump Firefox or not, appreciated.

    Hello alisya,

yes, 10.4fx is the same as TenFourFox.

And yes, please put Firefox 3 in the trash when you start using TenFourFox. Don't use the old Firefox again after that because it will destroy your TenFourFox user profile. This profile is the same as your old Firefox profile, it's upgraded once you start TenFourFox (which will likely kill your bookmarks), after which the old Firefox cannot read the profile correctly anymore.

If you do care about your bookmarks, the last honorable job Firefox 3 can do for you is to export them to HTML (Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks…>Star Button>Export HTML) so you can re-import them later with TFF.

The latest version is TFF 45.6 (45.7 coming out shortly, likely on monday). Go to http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ and scroll down to "TenFourFox for G4 processors".

You'll be able to use YouTube most of the time with TenFourFox (no Flash needed), however performance won't be stellar on a G4, but usable.

You can use Adblock, but this add-on is a real performance killer. A good alternative is uBlock Origin, which does the same job in a much more lighweight fashion.
