PPC Memory Mode

Is there a system query which reports memory channel mode on a PPC system? I ask because the G4 system I have has 512mb on board but will max out at 1.5gb with an additional 1gb dimm. Will it run in single channel mode with 1.5gb but dual channel mode with 1gb total? Thanks in advance for you informed reply.
