Anyone have a trick for playing MP4 in energy saver mode on a Powerbook?

My G4 PowerBook 1.33 GHz plays 720x405 MP4/xvid movies just fine in Energy Saver mode (667 MHz) with QuickTime Player+Perian. For higher resolutions or more demanding codecs like h.264, the trick is to have several video players installed and to try which one works best for which movie.

I can second the incredible efficiency of the xvid codec. Coupled with VLC you can multitask to infinity and beyond with your choice of Browser, Colloquy, Transmission and even MacTubes. The power of Cocoa.
