I've read this lifehacker article ( http://lifehacker.com/turn-on-tracking-protection-in-firefox-to-make-pages-lo-1706946166?utm_campaign=socialflow_lifehacker_facebook&utm_source=lifehacker_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow ) posted 5/26/15 about enabling this setting in about:config, but there are plenty of web pages for tweaking Firefox. My question is this: how many of these are applicable to TFFx?

http://lifehacker.com/the-best-about-config-tweaks-that-make-firefox-better-1442137111 ...from 2013
http://lifehacker.com/5867444/the-always-up-to-date-power-users-guide-to-firefox ...which isn't. or hasn't been updated since 2011

I'm going to venture a guess that some of these are addressed in source code of current versions and as such are obsolete...but is it worth poking around to see what included in TFfx? the item in the subject line ^ doesn't appear in the current version's (v31.7.0 for 7450) config.

First, a preface for other readers: as the warning on about:config says, changes you make to browser settings may cause the browser to behave adversely, including incorrect behaviour, enabling bugs or features that are not fully tested, or crashing outright. If you change an about:config setting by hand, please change it back before opening a support ticket. Due to changes to TenFourFox internals in later versions, support for about:config settings are best-effort only, even if they are documented in regular Firefox; some of them may not work the same, or at all.

Now, to the specific setting you mention in the ticket title: Firefox Tracking Protection was not a part of the browser until Fx36, so TenFourFox 31 does not support this feature. TenFourFox 38 will have this support, which is under development for general release around July, schedule permitting. You can watch the TenFourFox Development Blog for beta announcements. Please note that Mozilla considers this feature to be experimental and since it is not a standard part of the browser, you use it at your own risk.

As for the other articles, the 2013 one is still generally applicable. If the setting exists in about:config, it probably works (if it doesn't, don't bother adding it). The 2011 piece is quite old and only the keyboard shortcuts and certain other tips in it still apply to 31. In particular, the preferences settings have changed quite dramatically.

FYI - enabling this works wonderfully. I've never seen page loads this fast. my 15/1 dsl seems like it was upgraded: It's" Click, bang!" now, where I used to get the turning wheel in the address bar.

Yes, this may reduce load times significantly if you haven't been blocking tracking sites with Adblock anyway. Some lists like EasyPrivacy and others contain these filters, too.
