Quicktime vs VLC video streaming

Has anybody had any success streaming URL videos with VLC 2.0.10 as you do in QT or MacTubes? The same video URL works fine in QT but won't in VLC. & of course it works fine on VLC 2.1.5 on a intel macbook.

   While this isn't really a TenFourFox related topic, but sort of anyway since VLC can be an alternative or workaround to plugins, I have to say that the PPC version of VLC 2.x is pretty much unusable. Slow and buggy. Also, personally, I don't like the new user interface at all, so I'm still on 1.1.11. That said, VLC 2.0.10 plays an audio stream like http://wmlive.bbc.co.uk/wms/england/lrlondon?MSWMExt=.asf just fine. I didn't test video, though.
