Moving profiles from TenFourFox to FireFox — does this work?
Hi.
At long last I am about to buy a refurbished 12-core Mac Pro to replace my G5. I will be using FireFox as my main browser and would like to transfer the profiles from TenFourFox. Can I simply drop the profiles from the profile folder into the appropriate place on my new system? Are the profiles compatible?

Congratulations on the upgrade and I'm glad your G5 served you as long as it did.
I would not use a TenFourFox profile with Firefox. Although it will probably work, there are some important differences (especially add-ons). Instead, I would export your bookmarks from TenFourFox and reimport them into mainline Firefox on the Mac Pro, and then restore your add-ons manually using the newer Web Extensions versions.

Thanks for that answer. It looks simple enough to move my web environment over, just slightly harder than I hoped. I do want the new setup to be reliable so I'll do it the way you're suggesting.
My original G5 was a Quad G5 shipped in 2006, some time after Apple stopped making them. Although it was not advertised you could still order a Quad G5 if requested (the other models were dropped properly though) nearly a year after it vanished from their web site. Sadly my Quad G5 died a few months ago and I pulled my spare, a dual 2.3GHz machine, out of the cupboard. I put the hard disks from the Quad into it and within minutes I was back at work. I might try and revive the Quad G5 so I can continue using PhotoShop CS3 on it, though it's a lot of work to service the cooling system which is what failed.
