Hi there,

I have an old Imac computer I am trying to use to surf the web but most websites are not displaying images or even opening. It is currently running Mac 0S X Version 10.4.11.

Will your browser work on my computer? And what version should I download?

Many thanks
James

James, what kind of iMac is it? G3, G4 or G5? What's the processor speed? If in doubt, click About this Mac… in the Apple Menu.

    Hi Chris,

    Its an Imac5, 1
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz

Looking online I think its a 2006/2007 model.

So you have an Intel iMac, which means the 'official' TenFourFox won't work on your computer.

If your iMac can update to Max OS X 10.11 El Capitan, you could just run the latest version of Firefox. But I only recommend doing this if the Mac has an SSD and at least 4 GB of RAM:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886

If you want to keep Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger you have two options:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/tenfourfox/files/unstable/contrib/
    https://github.com/OlgaTPark/tenfourfox/releases/

These unofficial builds are not supported here. I cannot recommend which one is better, you'll have to try for yourself. (I'd probable try the more recent TenFourFox-FPR24-i386 first).

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your reply.

I checked and Apple says my computer cannot be upgraded to another operating system unfortunately.

I just thought of one problem when downloading the TenFourFox-FPR24-i386 browser. If I try to access this page on the Imac computer it will be unable to open the website. I have another computer the one which I am messaging you from but thats a windows 10 computer. I am assuming that if I download the TenFourFox-FPR24-i386 it will be the Windows version of this browser? Is there anyway I can download the Mac version of TenFourFox-FPR24-i386 from a windows computer?

I could then save it to a USB drive and transfer it to my Imac computer and then install it there.

There is no Windows version of this browser :-) Just download TenFourFox-FPR24-i386 on Windows 10 and transfer the installer to your iMac using the USB drive as you planned.

    Hi Chris,

I tried both of the above browser versions for my old macbook pro A1150. Actually they work as well as the Safari 4.1.3 but none of them work with the Youtube site. Do you have any suggestions?

    The specs are:

      Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
      Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
      Processor Speed: 2 GHz

      Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
      Memory: 2 GB
      Bus Speed: 667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version: MBP11.0055.B08
      SMC Version: 1.2f10
      Serial Number: W86233DGVWW
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
      State: Enabled

    Thank you very much.

I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions except: If you want to enjoy Youtube, you'll need a newer Mac (minimum Core 2 Duo, built ca. 2009 or later) that supports at least OS X 10.11 and runs at least Firefox ESR 78 or the latest Waterfox Classic. Or a very fast PowerMac running the latest TenFourFox.
