I d/l the latest version as soon as it was available, but had to revert to the previous version 38.10. New version was impossibly slow and completely stalled, then froze in both Gmail and Google. Fortunately I always save the previous working versions.

I'm sorry to hear that, but this reply is being typed in it and we went through an entire beta cycle without any reports like this. You are of course welcome to use 38.10 for as long as it serves your purpose, but the issue is likely local and without any additional information about your system I don't have any suggestions to offer you.

Hi, I'm having problems trying to download 45.4.0. It races through and says download is downloading and then says completed from the sourceforge site. The problem is nothing appears at all. Is there anything I should do?

It's possible SourceForge (or more likely the mirror it's connecting you to) is having intermittent difficulties. I'd just try later.

landophe, I'm not sure what to tell you, since I was on an iBook G4 this morning and browsing normally. If you find something you suspect may be a compatibility issue, please let me know and I'll investigate.

You're right, it takes some time, but it does succeed eventually. I'm not sure why. It's either something like a database related performance issue we also see when exporting/importing a large amount of bookmarks or deleting a month's worth of history at once, or the number shown at "Your web content cache…" in the panel doesn't update properly. If you hit cmd+R a few time at about:preferences#advanced you can force it to update.

Thanks for the command R tip.

I also notice a new performance improvement under help:troubleshooting
information:tuneup box:refresh tenfour fox... works like a champ, but
need to reset larger fonts for the old eyes.

Using os 10.4.11 on a G5. Won't update a daily news blog site, instead keeps loading the cached version from before I upgraded to 45.0. Looked at the console that says:

An unbalanced tree was written using document.write() causing data from the network to be reparsed. For more information https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Optimizing_Your_Pages_for_Speculative_Parsing

Probably going to revert back to last version unless there's an easy fix to this.

That error is simply saying things will run slower that way, not "not at all."

Stuck pages in the cache are usually best fixed by resetting your cache or resetting your entire profile. Instructions for that are at the bottom right ("How to reset your profile").

Thanks, reset it. Don't remember having to do that on any previous upgrades, but it worked.

THanks-- replied to the thread, but FYI it worked, even though I don't
remember having to do that on any previous upgrade.

Running v. 45.4 on a '01 G3 600mhz iBook, after some hesitation right after d/l, there were two .zip files at first and the main one refused to unpack, until the problem.. resolved itself, it is now running stable and remarkably quicker compared to v. 38. Many thanks for helping me keeping this 15 year old machine alive!

45.4 does not clear cookies. This is a fatal error. I have reverted to 37.

After I delete cookies they disappear then are refilled. I opened
tenfour 37 and cookies cleared. Ten minutes later the same issue
arose. I placed both copies of tenfourfox in the trash and loaded
tenfour fox from another SSD. The cookies now clear.

      I may have a virus. I downloaded cleanmymac_classic from macpaw a
few days ago. How to find the virus? I may rewrite the corrupted SSD
from the uninfected SSD. Life is a bowl of cherries.

So, is the problem you were having with TenFourFox (cookies) now, kind of, solved?

I have no personal experience with antivirus software on the Mac. The only thing I can say is that what you downloaded seems to be a legit app (like Onyx or TinkerTool System or the like), only it doesn't seem to be suited to find viruses. Friends of mine use ClamXav on PPC Macs, but I don't think it's necessary or worth the hassle to install antivirus software on Macs in general.

Restoring from a known good backup is always a good idea, this is probably the easiest thing to do if you think something has gone awry.

Best I can tell I was clearing cookies manually with a page open.
Naturally the page filled my cookie cache as fast as I cleared it. I
never saw that before, but I understand the behavior of the web page.

45.4 does not clear cookies upon closing. I won't be using 45.4. I'll
search my downloads for an old version that does clear cookies upon
closing. Right now I am using a 37.? and it does not clear cookies
upon closing either. Perhaps that feature emerged with 38. I do like
that 37 clears cookies and cache with one click whereas 38 requires
    separate buttons for each.

I hate cookies. I clear them often. A browser version that makes
cookie clearing awkward is not an option.

Thank you for the beautiful browsers you have ported for me.

Under the Privacy tab in Preferences, is the setting under Keep until set to I close TenFourFox? If you don't see this option, change TenFourFox will to Use custom options for history and you will be given more settings to select from.

The default actually is not to clear cookies upon exiting the browser, and that has been the case for some time. There was never a TenFourFox 37.

My 45.4 crashed and cannot reload. I downloaded a new copy. No help.
I used disc utility and disc warrior to correct any corrupted files.
No help. Refresh froze. I searched for preference files and cannot
find any. I compacted all files of tenfourfox. no help.

Where do I download a version 38, please.

Keithgbeatty, please quit TenFourFox, go to Macintosh HD>users>[your name]>Library>Application Support in the Finder. Rename the "Firefox" folder to "Firefox old", then start TenFourFox.

This comment was split into a new discussion: the little details, icons, etc do not show in any previous version of ttf

    * imac - g5 - ppc - osx 10.5.8 - safari 5.0.6 - tenfourfoxg5 45.4.0 - 1.5gb ram
    * problem: the little details, icons, etc do not show in any previous version of ttf that i have used. that is true on any site: yahoo mail, news\opinion sites\etc. also, using the 'down' arrow usually jumps the page to the bottom, not just a line or two.
    * is something i am not doing or doing wrong or can do?
    * thanks.

    * i am not sure what you referring to. i mentioned problems i have had with tenfourfox in terms of properly showing what is on a web site page. i use yahoo mail and tenfourfox does not show the icons for the various functions on the inbox and subsequent pages.
    * also, what e-mail are you talking about? mine is correct and has been for the pat 17 or so years.
