Reader View
In TenFourFox 38.3.0 (using OSX 10.4.11) you can save a Web Page as a PDF - no problem.
However if you attempt this while in Reader View mode, the resulting PDF is truncated - about 10 mm. of text on the left end of every line is missing. Example is attached.
On my other computer, with FireFox 41.0.2 (using OSX 10.6.8), this problem does not occur.

Does it work with Firefox ESR 38.3? We're not based on 41.0.2.

I don't use Firefox ESR 38.3 so I cannot test with that application.
The problem is with TenFourFox 38.3.0

Let me be a bit more explicit: TenFourFox is based on Firefox ESR, not on regular Firefox. The fact it works with 41.0.2 may merely mean there was a bug in Firefox fixed between 38.3 and 41.0.2.
If you're not willing to test it against Firefox ESR 38.3, then this will need to wait until one of us can. I'm not planning to do so immediately, since I have several other higher priority bugs to deal with. If this is a priority for you, testing it (and including the URL you tested with) against the build would be a great way to start. I'm not going to look into this until I know one way or the other because I'd rather use an existing bug fix instead of blow cycles on a bug that's already fixed.

Thanks for that clarification. This is not a priority for me,
because I can always use 41.0.2 if I really need to save a Reader
View as PDF. I may install FireFox ESR at some stage just out of
curiosity.

I can reproduce this for PDF as well as printing on paper, but not on all websites that let me enable Reader Mode. Working test URL:
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Irische-Aufsicht-soll-Facebooks-Datenuebermittlung-in-die-USA-pruefen-2851453.html
Firefox 38 ESR on Win XP doesn't show this behavior when printing on paper. But printing errors should be tested against Firefox 38 for Mac. Since I don't have an Intel Mac, it won't be before the next weekend that I'm able to do this.

Looks like we need
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1158322
This is a pretty safe fix (we just have to backport it to 38).

Slightly off topic but for future reference: I wonder how you found this bug at Bugzilla. Because I did a search before I posted my comment here and found nothing related. Even if I search for just "reader mode" in all bugs (open and closed) I get "10000 bugs found", but 1158322 is *not* in that list.

M1158322 was linked off M1135009, which came up when I did a quick scan for "Reader Mode print" in open and closed bugs.

Er, s/Mode/View

This is now fixed in 38.4, which is available for testing.

Firefox 57 the reader view is back but it renders article dates incorrectly say 5-6minutes ago for example when the date is June 6, 2016

This isn't Firefox 57. Please direct those questions to https://support.mozilla.org/
