newest verson, powerbookG4, when setting new bookmark, the window to select and place bookmarket pops up but all the control buttons are inactive so you can't save it or place it in folder desired.

Are the buttons (expand arrows and dropdown menus next to "Folder" and "Tags" and "Cancel", "Done") completely unclickable? What happens if you use the default Firefox skin/theme instead of your transparent one?

Go to Tools Menu > Add-ons… and then Appearance in the left column. Choose the Default theme and re-start the browser.

Your screenshots look normal to me – the buttons appear to be active. They aren't greyed out. But if they're not clickable this doesn't help you right now.

Next thing I would try is disabling all extensions (they're found in the Add-ons Manager as well).

Also: Can you add bookmars via the Bookmarks Menu ("Bookmark This Page…") and sort them into folders in the Library window ("Show All Bookmarks")?
