This just started
with the last beta, so I held off until the final. Now on 38.2
and:
With TenFour as my default browser (G4 MDD 10.5.8), clicking a link
which causes TenFour to launch (such as in an email) opens TWO
windows - one resolving to the link AND a second empty new window.
Obviously not "normal" behavior…anyone else seeing this or is
it just me?

Gary Novaktag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-12T14:52:38Z2015-08-12T14:52:38ZDuplicate new windows

I am not able to reproduce this here. What is your E-mail
client?

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-13T00:30:34Z2015-08-13T00:30:34ZDuplicate new windows

As I said, maybe it's just my setup for some reason. I use
regular Mac
Mail but the phenomenon happens anytime I launch Ten-Four with
a
click on a link (a saved link on the desktop for example).
Launching
the app from the dock opens one blank page (as selected in
prefs).
Launching from any external link opens two. FWIW, I keep a copy
of
17.0.11 in a different folder (Yeah I know, but every now and then
you
gotta - idiots just won't quit using flash and I'm careful.).
The
double window does not occur if I set that version to open as
the
preferred browser. I also downloaded and tried a v.24 and it's
normal
as well. I'm also seeing the issue back to 31.7, so something
that
changed / evolved between 24 and 37…?

Don't lose any sleep over this… I'm not. It is puzzling,
though.

Thanks,

test:

Open Terminal.app
Type

open http://www.floodgap.com/

That should open Floodgap in a new browser tab. Do you get
two?

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-13T19:26:35Z2015-08-13T19:26:35ZDuplicate new windows

Ten-Four running = one new window
Ten-Four NOT running = app launch and TWO windows - one Floodgap,
one
blank
Also downloaded fresh copy - same result
Are we having fun yet?

Gary

Gary Novaktag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-14T18:36:36Z2015-08-14T18:36:36ZDuplicate new windows

On the test systems, both running and not running give the same
result.

I suspect you have a pref that's gone wrong. Are the spurious
tabs empty or blank, or do they appear to have content? If you
reset your profile using the steps at lower right (see How to reset
your profile), does this fix the problem?

Please note that going back and forth between old versions may
corrupt your profile due to bugs that were not corrected in earlier
releases.

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-14T18:42:17Z2015-08-14T18:42:17ZDuplicate new windows

I tested this and can't reproduce it either.

Chris (chtrusch)tag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/376344032015-08-14T22:57:45Z2015-08-14T22:57:46ZDuplicate new windows

Gentlemen, it seems that you all have the same shortcoming -
failure
to keep informed regarding all things relevant to your tasks. Since
(I
assume) this is volunteer work, you DO get cut some slack and you
DO
get credit for accidentally suggesting the correct direction to
look in:

I, on the other hand, am simply an idiot for not thinking of
and
trying this first myself.

Prefs: No
Add-Ons: Well, hello there!

The insect is discovered to be residing in AdBlock Plus
(currently at
2.6.10 though how far back it goes is unclear).
The reason it's a failure to keep informed is because there has
been a
standing bug report on their site about this since Aug. 1st -
this
evidently affects ALL versions of Firefox, and of course Ten-Four
as
well. I'm just surprised that I'm the first TenFour user to
bother
asking about it - I'm pretty sure I can't be the only one using
AdBlock and therefore seeing this bug…

When I realized resetting my profile involved pulling and
restoring
all add-ons, it was obvious that I should try disabling add-ons
first
- DUH…

Thank you for your efforts,

other users just don't close the browser.

Either way, thanks for the detective work and glad it works. The
ticket will remain visible in case people have any problems. I will
close this ticket, but any reply will reopen it.

Cameron Kaiser
