Probable bug in 24.3.0
Since upgrading to TenForFox 24.3.0, I have experienced substantial error messages
PROBLEM LOADING PAGE
Firefox can't find the server at _______________________
This becomes a closed loop for as long as an hour, including perhaps 75 percent of the links I choose.
Remedies that do not remedy include: restarting; shutting down; changing drives to run DiskWarrior and TechTool Pro to rebuild directory, repair permissions, fix files and folders, file optimization, and disk optimization.
The problem disappears at random and recurs at random. The only thing I have not/cannot verify is the integrity of my Internet service. But I have not experienced such error messages when I switch to SAFARI browser.

I omitted the computer being used is a PowerBook G4 (1.2), 1.67 GHz, 1 GB RAM, Boot ROM Version: 4.9.1f1.

I'm typing this post in 24.3.0, so I can't replicate something that crippling. Given all the things you state you've tried, the only thing else I can suggest is a profile reset (see How to reset your profile at the lower right). If that doesn't work, I don't have any suggestions for you; none of the test systems have any difficulty of this magnitude.

Apparently, profile reset solved the problem. Of course, before I did the easy fix, I attempted to futz with Firefox support folder the way I used to with OS 9.2. And of course, I had to fight with the unusable result for several hours before I restored TenForFox to my last back-up. . . . THEN, and only then, did I pay attention to your help. And, as I typed, problem appears to be solve.

I was premature. Problem persists in more pernicious form. Neither
24.3.0 nor 24.2.0 functions. Error message always the same. I tried
disabling all ADD-ONS - no difference. I have current antivirus
software ClamXav functioning. Theoretically, drive should be virus
free. I'll run the full application just to be certain. Safari browser
has no issues, so I revert to there being some significant
incompatibility between the 24 series and my PB running OS X 10.4.11.
I'll muddle through, using Safari when I must. I anticipate a future
TenFourFox update will inadvertently solve the problem.

Lance, I'll leave this ticket open in case anyone experiences something similar, but I can't replicate any of the issues you report and I don't have any other suggestions for you.

Cameron:
I appreciate your help. Now I am completely "at sea." The problem with
server recognition and access that seemed to be omnipresent has
disappeared AGAIN. At this point I'm thinking there is a tiny
malevolent being in my computer who is having great fun at my expense.
Since this problem appears and disappears at random, let's just ignore
it. If TenFourFox is going to have bad days, that's life. I anticipate
future updates will accidentally and incidentally remedy the problem.
Oh, one thing I did today was to disable GOOGLE DISCONNECT 2.4.2 while
leaving GOOGLESHARING 0.22 enabled. I did this because scrolling was
abnormally slow. This solved the scrolling slowness. Having typed that,
the server recognition and access problem was not present. So I cannot
report that disabling the ADD-ON affected my primary problem.
Best regards,
Lance

I'd try disabling all add-ons for a week and see what happens.

Chris:
I disabled all ADD-ONs a while ago and obtained no significant
improvement. I then replaced them individually to see whether one was
the culprit. The best I could do was to discover one ADD-ON slowed
scrolling. Having typed that, the malevolent has been taking a break
for several days. OR whatever we all futzed with finally paid off. I
have had a couple of annoying server disappearances, but very few. And
those few become fewer every day. I have no idea why they are not
occurring, but I have no idea why they began. I think the problem has
been solved, or at worst, is easily manageable.
Thanks again for your help.
Regards,
Lance
