Hi
First off, thank you guys for all you do for us powermac users, you are browser life savers!
Question:After upgrading to vers. 24.3(on my G4 powerbook) when I log into my yahoo mail account it asks if I want to upgrade my browser. In version 24.0 it didn't ask me to upgrade
see attachement
thx in advance for any solutions
Mark

Mark, Yahoo Mail doesn't seem to like our new user agent string format in 24.3.0. Sigh. If you click "Continue without upgrading" you can use your mailbox normally for now.

Expert tip: You can change the user agent string to [for your system]

    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; rv:24.0) Gecko/20140129 Firefox/24.0 TenFourFox/7450

(using, for example, the Default User Agent extension), then Yahoo will let you in without complaining.

I went back to vers. 24.1 because I got blocked from access to Yahoo completely

If you got a "connection refused" during the last half hour – they had server problems. This had nothing to do with us.

to change the string(forgive me I'm green), do you change the value in general.useragent.locale from en-US to Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; rv:24.0)
    Gecko/20140129 Firefox/24.0 TenFourFox/7450?

That's not the right place – please use this add-on if you want to change the user agent string:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/

    Otherwise you'd have to create
    general.useragent.override
in about:config and set it there, but please don't if you don't know exactly what you're doing :-)

The change is being reverted for 24.4.0. It was to fix another major site, but this one trumps that. It doesn't look like there's a satisfactory middle ground, so we might as well stick with what we used before.

I also cannot open my yahoo mail. Reinstalled 104fox 24.2 where I had no problem. Waiting for 24.4. May try the add-on for the user agent string and try 24.3 again. Thanks for the good instructions.
