Dear Sirs,

When I open a new tab the screen shows small images of web sites recently visited. This is of little use to me; I would much rather it opened on the “home page”.

Is this possible please?

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you, in anticipation, for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

MC Black

Hello, type about:config into the URL bar. Filter for "newtab". Then set browser.newtab.url to your homepage (e.g. www.google.com).

    Dear Chris

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I'm afraid that I must ask you to send me exactly what I have to
    type into the URL bar

I understand that the first entry is - about:config

but what EXACTLY must I do after that please?

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you, in anticipation,
    for your continued assistance.

    Yours sincerely,

      MC Black

Hello MC Black, no problem. I'm sorry, my reply was a bit on the brief side. Here are the steps:

    1) Type 'about:config' (without quotes, as one word, no spaces) in the URL (web address) bar and hit return.
    2) Confirm that you'll be careful.
    3) Type 'newtab' in the search field (this will give you only the settings that are concerned with opening new tabs so you don't have to scroll down 50 pages)
    4) double-click browser.newtab.url.
    5) In the dialog sheet "Enter string value", type the URL of your desired homepage. Then click OK.
    6) Open a new tab to make sure it works.

    Dear Chris

Very many thanks for taking the time to give a
full and detailed response with illustration.

I've now made the changes and it works fine, so far

With best wishes and thanks again.
