wouldn't work with Firefox/TenFourFox and I had an alternate link
on my home page to use version 5 of the player. With the new
TenFourFox, both versions of JW Player (5 & 6) are forced to
download the video to the desktop.</p>
<p>I want my player to work with all the browsers, but just when I
rigged some sort of solution for Mozilla,, it's broken again. What
can we do?</p>
<p>Thanks, D.</p></div>Don Alexandertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/305353332013-12-13T02:27:25Z2013-12-13T02:27:25Z24.2.0 forces JW Player to download video to desktop<div><p>Can you provide a link to the page you're referring to?</p></div>Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/305353332013-12-13T02:57:01Z2013-12-13T18:07:57Z24.2.0 forces JW Player to download video to desktop<div><p>Sure thing, it's <a href=

<p>I saw later that you've disabled flash so that may be why it's
doing that<br>
to me, but my concern was primarily that agents whom I promote to
won't be<br>
put off. In that case I would be interested to know how to make
these work<br>
for everyone, even those who don't have the plug-ins on their
browser.</p>
<p>Thanks! Don</p></div>Don Alexandertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/305353332013-12-13T18:35:26Z2013-12-13T18:35:26Z24.2.0 forces JW Player to download video to desktop<div><p>Ah, okay. I think I understand what's going on. Yes, part of the
problem is that TenFourFox does not support plugins anymore at all.
I don't use Flash on the office PC, but Firefox will still play
your video because Windows Firefox 26 can use the built-in MPEG-4
decoder in Windows. However, Firefox 24, which is what TenFourFox
24 is based on, does not have MPEG-4 support, so the browser tries
to download the file instead.</p>
<p>There's no real way to fix that short of adding MPEG-4 support,
which is a long and slow ongoing project. But there is a
workaround: if the user has the QuickTime Enabler extension enabled
(a free download from <a href=
"http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/w/QuickTimeEnabler">http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/w/QuickTimeEnabler</a>
), they can right-click on the JWPlayer and say "Open Link in
QuickTime," and your video will stream into a new QuickTime
window.</p>
<p>Sorry I can't offer much more than that, but hopefully it's a
little helpful.</p></div>Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/305353332013-12-14T03:13:46Z2013-12-14T03:13:47Z24.2.0 forces JW Player to download video to desktop<div><p>Yes, that is helpful, certainly knowing what one's obstacle is
and why, is<br>
enabling in a significant way. If Firefox doesn't have mp4 support,
what<br>
video type would you think to be a good fallback?</p>
<p>At least now I know that Windows Firefox users can see the
video. I know<br>
your app is dependent on what Firefox has already laid out, but
they could<br>
do better, even without mp4 support. Even if they have trouble with
HTML<br>
they should at least be able to run jw player 5, since they were
able to do<br>
so before. My alternate link simply used jw player 5 instead of
6.<br>
Neither work with the new browser.</p>
<p>Some programmers are setting forth a plan that tries to provide
the flash<br>
version first and use the HTML5 with mp4 as the fallback to
circumvent such<br>
problems, and then it will still play on mobile devices. I don't
know if<br>
that will help with the new Firefox version however. If you google
" *How<br>
To Resolve the Most Annoying JW Player Error in Joomla - itoctopus
*" ,<br>
you can find the article.</p>
<p>I realize it's the 'Tower of Bable' effect at work. We have no
choice but<br>
to continue trying to rebuild the tower. Thank you for your work in
this<br>
regard.</p>
