Please be more specific: do you simply mean the window won't close? Or is there something else/different that the window does not respond to?

sorry:
"Preference" pane opens but there is no functionality whatsoever; it is locked on "Advanced" as if it were a screen-shot. Necessary to quit app in order to close Preferences pane.

Interesting: same problem, continuing with v 10.0.9: no functionality in Preferences pane; window opens locked on "Advanced;" pane will no close unless app is quit.
This was not a problem with 10.0.7...Is there something I'm overlooking, something that might have been changed in about:config?

I was just about to follow up here. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this on any of my test systems with either 10.0.8 or 10.0.9, on any version. Does restarting the browser in safe mode make any difference?

This comment was split into a new discussion: Unresponsive Script
I have the same problem with my eMac which is a 800 MHz PowerPC G4 version 10.4.11. I get an unresponsive script banner across my browser controls and the page cannot be closed unless the browser is shut down. I thought this problem would be settled with the latest version, 10.0.9. Apparently it has not.
This usually occurs when browsing a page that continuously updates. Static pages such as eBay don't seem to have this problem.
It was recommended to me that I rewrite code (which goes beyond my knowledge of computers).
I highly recommend that the developers of TenFourFox utilize a dial up service to test their browsers as many rural areas do not have high speed internet access, if that's the cause of the problem.
At this time, I am considering trying out Camino, an alternative to TenFourFox.
Enclosed is a screenshot of the problem.
