installed the TenFourFox and can't get it to go the file. i get a
blank box with "go to website" showing. Any suggestions?

Linda Burrelltag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-04T19:26:31Z2012-09-04T19:26:31Zadobe reader

Did it download in your Downloads window (look under Tools)?

If it didn't, and nothing else appears to happen, you probably
have a stuck setting relating to how PDFs are handled, and I'd
recommend resetting your profile. See "Help! Where Do I Begin??"
for information on this process.

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-04T20:18:16Z2012-09-04T20:18:16Zadobe reader

Thanks!! I'll give these suggestions a try!

Ruchama Burrelltag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-04T21:17:29Z2012-09-04T21:17:30Zadobe reader

OK, I went through the process suggested and i still can't
download a pdf from a link. I can download (and did) a pdf that was
an attachment to an email. What I can't seem to do is get the
TenFour to go to the website where the pdf is available. I did
successfully downlad a zip installer file from the same website.
Any ideas?

Linda Burrelltag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-04T23:03:11Z2012-09-04T23:03:11Zadobe reader

What specific suggestions did you try?

What did you use to download the .pdf as your E-mail
attachment?

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-05T01:01:34Z2012-09-05T01:01:34Zadobe reader

I checked and the pdf had not been downloaded to the download
page.
I then went to the profile, opened it and couldn't find
anything
related to adobe reader, although the other downloaded zip
showed
up. The pdf downloaded automatically using Adobe Reader 9. What
appears to be happening is that somehow the pdf I'm having
trouble
downloaded can only be reached by Fox going to the webpage first
and
it doesn't want to do that. It just shows "go to web page" on
the
open box. I've tried going to the webpage myself and
downloading
from the link there. No luck while using the TenFox.
setting won't be visible to you from the Finder. The "Help!" page
explains where you can find out how to do that.

If you have a link on a page to that .pdf, you could try
right-clicking on the link and selecting Save As.

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-05T13:56:11Z2012-09-05T13:56:11Zadobe reader

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't immediately see that on the
Help
page, but sometimes i read too fast. I'll go back and try
again.
Thanks for your continuing help and patience!!
page
and the terminal will not open to the profile manager. I've
also
tried substituting TenFourFox for where applicable in the
directions. Nothing. I opened the profile file, following
another
set of directions, hoping to then quit firefox and continue, but
the
profile default does not seem to give any alternative to create
a
profile. Can you tell what I'm doing wrong? I've tried clicking
the
link on the page where the download originates, nothing
happens.
However, when i mailed this link from another computer as an
attachment, I was able to open and save it without difficulty.
It
seems the problem is with the TenFour (maybe because of some
security
setting) refusing to open the pfd link on the originating page.
I
can continue to use the round about process, but if you can tell
me
where I'm going wrong on resetting the profile, I'd much rather do
that.
helpful (find the link at the bottom right of this page).

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-06T20:31:48Z2012-09-06T20:31:48Zadobe reader

The article was much better and i have a new profile. My
original
problem with the download still exists, but I think has been
clarified. it's a security issue. TenFour doesn't want to open
the
pdf on the page because there are no cookies from the page and
it
does not reveal its identity, so security seems to be blocking
the
download whether I go to the page directly or try the link in
the
email. I don't know how if I can change the settings or create
a
method for this site to be accessed for downloads. Maybe the
website's manager has to do something. Otherwise, I guess i can
use
a less security conscious gateway or transfer the pdf from my
laptop
still running Firefox via email or thumb drive.
the site is indeed insecure in some way (such as a bad
certificate), it will give you warnings like that. You can
sometimes try right clicking on the .pdf link and selecting Save
As.

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/185041332012-09-06T23:57:46Z2012-09-06T23:57:46Zadobe reader

Thanks for all your help. I have tried clicking on the pdf
link.
Right now, I think since i really love the TenFourFox in every
other
way, I'm not going to worry about this one problem with one aspect
of
one page. What I truly appreciate is how helpful you were. So
many
times forum discussions or helps are a waste. You were very
helpful.
