Ten4Fox 31.1.0 crashes in Gmail???
CK:
Had some issues with FF in linux crashing while trying to use a Facebook messaging window . . . but then back in OSX Ten4Fox was OK, but today in my iMac G4 10.4.11 running T4F 31.1.0 (latest updated version--"no updates available") it crashed while typing an email in Gmail web site window . . . ?? Was able to restart T4F and go back to Gmail and finish the email . . . . This FF "crashing" thing has happened 3 or 4 times on the linux ppc side of things, and then today was the first time on the Ten4Fox side of town . . . possibly the latest update of FF has something that is causing sites to crash the browser?? Any thoughts or knowledge of this happening?

I'm logged into Gmail now. Haven't noticed anything of that sort. Since it's crashing in both Linux and OS X, are you sure you don't have a hardware problem brewing?

One can never deny potential hardware problems, but, this is in two
different computers, PPC . . . and of course it's just FF and now T4F . . .
that is crashing . . . . Thinking it was "flash" based, as FB seems to use
flash for getting windows to open . . . . I'll monitor it, seeing if it
transfers over to FF in my 10.6.8 or newer systems . . . .

24 and 31 can't run Flash or any plugin even if you try, so it's almost certainly not that. If you're running 17 still, I can't help you there. If you attach one of the crash logs, I can try to take a look at it. Please also specify the exact version of 10.4Fx you're using.

OK, the computer is at home, so it might not be today before I can post
back . . . but, version is in subject line, should be 31.1.0 . . . . I'll
post back when I find the crash log . . . something was "sent to apple"
when it happened . . . .

version 31.1.0 --"no updates available" so newest. Two docs attached, one from main Console log showing Ten4Fox "bitmap" problems with fonts and then the huge "firefox crash report" . . . so something seems to be at issue . . . .

Haven't heard back on this topic, it happened again this morning, again in Gmail with multiple tabs open. I copied the "report to apple" and I'll attach it here. Over in my MBPro I did get an "update reminder" and I looked at the details of it and it said something about "crashing after update" . . . so far I don't think FF has crashed in my MBPro, running 10.6.8 & 10.9.3 . . . although I saw somewhere that Mozilla "wants to drop sno lep support" . . . hope not. Perhaps there will be an update in Ten4 that will contain the fix coming up?

Just to let you know, two more crash episodes today . . . Ten4Fox "disappearing" from the screen . . . one time while doing online banking . . . kind of a PITA . . . . And then again minutes ago while back in Gmail . . . . TFF is kind of becoming a "crashaholic" or what, has a "glass jaw" and just drops with the slightest tap . . . . . Otherwise computer is running fine . . . .

I can't fix what I can't reproduce. The first crash log was missing the stuff at the beginning, so I can't say much about it, but the second one is a null pointer. However, without steps that enable me to reproduce it locally, I won't be able to do anything about it.

Well, it is an intermittent problem, but one that has happened now at least 6 times between my linux FF and TFF . . . it doesn't happen right away in Gmail, but after some time typing a longer email. Found the link to the "release notes" for 32.0.2??? upgrade listing the issues of crashing . . . and TFF crashed right now while typing this out . . . 7th time . . . .

TTF has crashed several more times since the last post, multiple tabs open, G4 iMac . . . this time right after checking TFF for updates . . . down she went. Filed the crash report with apple . . . .

Did the 31.1.1 upgrade, and I do "feel" more secure, but the crash problem has not been abated . . . two crashes in rapid secession this morning . . . . Crash reports filed with PA Apple . . . . Looking forward to 31.1.2 . . . or I guess I could revert back to an earlier edition . . . ???

Again crash while trying to open a probably image rich Nikon web page, crash report attached.

Sharing my personal experiences here for the purposes of tracking the problem . . . after the multiple crashes with 31.1.1 I decided to revert to where I thought that I had no problems . . . version 31 . . . . Closed some tabs, and then tried to do some online banking . . . and, boom, down she went . . . . I restarted in TFF safe mode, went back to the banking site . . . and, no crash happened. I don't believe I have any add-ons or extensions that work with TFF loaded . . . was hoping that going back in time would help out . . . but seems like the problem has been "memorized"???

Sorry you're having these problems. Again, we can't fix what we can't reproduce. Your crash log in post 12 looks interesting, but I'm not technical enough to draw any conclusions from that.
Thread 0 Crashed:
0 XUL 0x067b2b70 js::IterateGrayObjects(JS::Zone*, void (*)(void*, void*), void*) + 6384
If nothing comes out of it, and since we haven't heard anything like what you're experiencing from other users, the only thing I can recommend is to start over completely. Export your Bookmarks to html if you want to keep them. Close TFF, then move the Firefox folders from ~/Library/Application Support and ~/Library/Cashes to a backup location.

Chris:
Appreciate the reply and suggestions, was wondering how to get around
the possibility of something that was not a problem in 31, is now
happening in it. I'm trying out my old expired version of Camino to
see if anything happens there. I might be the only person using TFF
on a G4 iMac 800????
But, question . . . "~/Library/Caches" ??? Or, "~/Library/Crashes"??
I'll take a look later today or tomorrow . . . it must be "caches"??

Yes, it's "Caches". The complete path is
Macintosh HD/Users/[your user name]/Library/Caches.
There's a small possibility that something's stuck in there that causes the crash, and deleting the cache has helped in other cases.
And no, you're probably not the only person using TFF on a G4 iMac 800.

Latest news:
So, sort of following Chris' advice I stayed with 31.0.0 and I ran an Onyx cleaning/maintenance, followed by running through an Applejack deepcleaning . . . and I used 31.0 for several days with no crashing. Hoping to get around the 31.1.0 issues, today I re-did the 31.1.1 upgrade and re-launched the recently un-crashed TTF . . . and within 30 seconds . . . TFF was "gone" . . . this time no apple report crash report opened for it . . . too tired I guess . . . . So, I'll probably have to re-do the applejack process, revert to 31.0 . . . and wait to see if 31.1.2 makes it better . . . . 31.1.1 does not seem to be impervious to this problem . . . does that seem "evidence based" in nature, or "subjective/emotional"???

I ***might*** be out of the woods on this . . . after running applejack in
31.0 and having a few days of no crashing . . . then skipping to 31.1.1 . .
. and having crash right away . . . I again ran applejack, and running TFF
in Yahoo mail and Gmail and multiple tabs . . . got through a day or two
with no crash??? I'll keep testing the 31.1.1 . . . but, there must be
something in doing upgrades that leaves something causing TFF to crash, and
cleaning the cache or permissions??? fixes that issue? Guess I'll see what
happens with 31.1.2 . . . but seemingly the 31.1.0 ***may*** have been a
problem??? Or just the "upgrade" itself????

31.2, like previous versions, works quite well across the net EXCEPT with GMail, where it slows to a crawl, stalls, freezes, and works almost not at all. Even opening GMail may take 3-10 minutes and once on the app gives frequent reports of an "internet connectivity problem." None of this happens even with my really old 10.4.9 version of Safari.
Moreover, once 31.2 freezes, you cannot quit the app, even with OS 10's Force Quit, and often requires a cold reboot.
