upgrading from an earlier version of Firefox or TenFourFox (if so,
what version)?

Very old versions of Firefox (3.5 and earlier) may not be
compatible with the later profile format of Firefox 3.6 and
TenFourFox.

Cameron Kaisertag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/154630852012-04-27T18:19:04Z2012-04-27T18:19:05ZBookmarks lost!

Thank you for your answer.
When I said "actualize automatically" means that when I opened
TenFourFox last sunday a new tab appears, indicating that the
actualizatioon has occurred. I don't remember what was the previous
version, but currently I have the 10.0.3 version of TenFourFox, and
3.0.6 of Firefox.
I no ask for actualizations yet, neither Firefox or TenFourFox. In
fact, I avoid to actualize Firefox thinking maybe new versions
could not function well in my iBook (G4, OSX 10.5.8). For that
reason I download the TenFourFox.
What do you recommend?
Thank you again.

Fladruintag:tenfourfox.tenderapp.com,2012-01-07:Comment/154630852012-04-27T22:31:03Z2012-04-27T22:31:03ZBookmarks lost!

I'm taking "actualization" to mean updating the browser, here --
please tell me if I misunderstand you.

Also, do you have 3.6, or 3.0.6 (there is a difference)? You can
switch freely back and forth, at least right now, between Firefox
3.6 and TenFourFox 10.0.3. You can't with 3.5 or even
older versions like 3.0, because the profile formats are too
different and you will lose data such as bookmarks if you
do. If that's the case -- you are using 3.0.6 and 10.0.3 -- you
must choose one or the other, because you will keep risking losing
data every time you switch to the other one.

For that matter, even Firefox 3.6's profile format is likely to
be unsupported by the time the next ESR is updated, even though it
is currently compatible with 10ESR, on which TenFourFox-stable is
based.

Cameron Kaiser
